And while we readily admit most of the jobs posted on are geared towards job seekers with a minimum of a bachelors degree, there are flexible jobs available without a college degree. Earlier this year, we profiled 10 Flexible Jobs that Don’t Require a Degree. And we were happy to see a recent article from LearnVest about this subject “A new study out of the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce found that there are 29 million jobs that pay middle-class wages ($35,000- $72,000), but don’t require a university degree. Almost 40% of them pay $50,000 or more.” That’s very good news, indeed. What should job seekers know if they want to find a job without a college degree? Here are some details from LearnVest’s analysis of the study: One-third of them are blue-collar jobs Half are white-collar office jobs About 15% are jobs in health care Many of these jobs are in STEM fields: science, technology, engineering and mathematics What sort of education is required for these jobs? According to the study, it’s still difficult to get a job with just a high school diploma. Instead, try to get, “some form of secondary training, a two-year degree or a certificate,” says LearnVest.  Specifically, Georgetown University, which conducted the study, recommends these educational paths that can qualify you for these types of jobs: Employer-based training Industry-based certifications Apprenticeships Postsecondary certificates Associates degrees What types of jobs exist for people who don’t have a four-year degree? The study sites STEM industries as having the most opportunity, so we took a look at flexible jobs posted in the categories of Science Jobs, Technology Jobs, Engineering Jobs, and Math Jobs to find job titles that don’t require a degree.
